Whilst most of us know the term Extractors people often ask us what is the difference between Extractors and Headers, well it is quite simple, there is no difference between the two. Extractor is the term widely used in Australia whereas the term Headers is used more commonly in America. Headers / Extractors are designed to remove the exhaust gasses from the motor with much more efficiency than the standard cast manifold design. This in turn gives your car more power and greater fuel efficiency. Headers / Extractors are available for most makes and models and we are very competitive on our prices too.
The choice of universal mufflers is all but endless from a simple short body universal to large barrel truck mufflers the choice is yours. AAA Exhausts can help you decide the best universal muffler to suit your requirements.
Catalytic Converters have been mandatory on all petrol vehicles since 1997. The outer shell is made from stainless steel whilst the inner core can be made from either ceramic or stainless steel. Catalytic Converters play a major role in reducing the exhaust pollutants from your vehicle. These pollutants include carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides, etc. A catalytic converter chemically changes these into harmless substances like carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapour. Changing your cat converter to a hi-flow cat greatly increases the flow in your exhaust, increasing your car's performance and fuel economy.
Resonators, or Hot Dogs as they are also known, are small round or oval straight through mufflers which are designed to take the edge or resonance out of the exhaust system. Most resonators are a straight through design but baffled versions are available to keep the noise down to a legal level. Whilst it is not essential to have a resonator fitted to your exhaust system it can help greatly to reduce noise levels.
